My remote control made a pop noise like something blew in the circuit and now doesn't work

I was just sitting with my remote on my lap and it made a pop sound like something blew on the circuit, when I opened the back there was a wird smell and now it doesn't work properly

Hey,

That dose sound strange but give the Sky Stream team a call and they will be able to send you a new remote out and return the faulty one so they can investigate in case it a faulty batch hope this helps :).

@Harlos78 There have been a number of reports of this happening with the remotes over the last couple of months.  Unfortunately they are massed produced and of very poor quality.

If you are lucky enough to have one available you can use a Sky Q remote while you wait for the replacement to arrive.

Hi , yeah I contacted them and they're sending a replacement but didn't say anything about sending broken one back 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sky are not requesting the return of faulty remotes.  I think that they already have a significant amount of evidence that point to the fact that the remotes are substandard.

@Harlos78 They don't want the old remote back.  When I needed a replacement remote it was before the online form was available so I had to phone and ended up doing so four times before I received the remote.  The online form is so simple and quick.
