Re: I turned off all PIN options on my Sky Stream puck, but some movie channels still make me enter
The setting isn't there to turn off Mandatory Daytime Protection because that's specifically forbidden by the Broadcasting Code.
This form of protection is called mandatory daytime protection (“MDP”) and cannot be removed or bypassed by viewers.
The selectable option is for a family to have additional PIN control or not: for example based on lower age ratings such as 'PG', as described in the Sky Help article.
For legal purposes Sky is the provider of a regulated EPG and so is a 'broadcaster' even on Glass and Stream: as is typical the relevant laws are a long way behind technology.

Current media regulation is hopelessly outdated, but nonetheless remains in effect and Sky would be subject to extreme sanctions from Ofcom (up to the complete withdrawal of its UK platform licence) if it didn't comply. There's very little point getting upset by this, and as noted above the appropriate place for lobbying on the matter is through your MP because ultimately it's a Parliamentary issue.

Re: I turned off all PIN options on my Sky Stream puck, but some movie channels still make me enter
Media rules may be outdated (ot plain stupid at times), but that is not an excuse why in a household of adults only we still have to enter pin even for things like The Simpsons. It serves no other purpose than annoy.
What is stopping Sky from updating the firmware in the Sky+ and SkyQ devices with an option for automatic pin entry??

I imagine OFCOM wouldn't like it.

I concur it needs to be manually done on the basis that an automatic entry system would give under age individuals access which would breach the rules
sky has no insight into who lives in the household

The Broadcasting Code, as stated above.
" This form of protection is called mandatory daytime protection (“MDP”) and cannot be removed or bypassed by viewers. "

Individual Simpsons episodes vary between U, PG and 12 rating, and it's the latter which triggers MDP.

Re: I turned off all PIN options on my Sky Stream puck, but some movie channels still make me enter
So here's a case in point about how wildly Sky enforces this 'mandatory' policy.
Right now on 106 - Showcase is S.W.A.T, the exact same show is also on 110 - Max.
I've checked and they are exactly the same episode S1, ep9, being broadcast at exactly the same time on the exact same (Sky Stream) platform.
It's classified as PG on 106, and 15 on 110.
I can therefore watch it in the clear on 106, but 110 wants a PIN....
Absolute madness.....discuss.

Inconsistent, for sure. But not really a big deal having to enter a PIN?

I have disabled all PIN restrictions on my puck, but the last four times I selected a Sky Movies channel it required my PIN before playing the movie. Why?
