I have sky stream… can I just buy a used Glass TV and replace it?

Pretty simple idea. Someone locally selling one very cheap and I'm tempted as long as my sky stream deal remains in place. Anyone done this?

Update for all. I connected the glass, reset the TV and it picked up my account no problem. I'm happy with it overall. Especially for £400 for the big one.

@PennyStardust you can now add a second hand puck or TV to your Stream account so long as you dont exceed 3TVs and 6 pucks. This page explains what to do https://www.sky.com/help/articles/buying-sky-glass-second-hand

You will have to add the Whole Home pack to your sub to watch if you dont have thst already

Thanks for the answer, but let me be more specific. I don't want to add multi room. I want to replace the puck as my single device.

Don't go for a Glass TV, you are best with a puck and standard smart TV.

Glass is not a great TV and if you decide to leave Sky you are basically left with a dumb monitor.

Keep the puck and a decent OLED TV.

You would need the puck to watch Sky, I think Sky are against 2nd hand activations, tho I remember years ago you could give them the mac address of cable boxes to activate on your account, so it might be possible.

@PennyStardust

Realistically there's very unlikely to be any mechanism to facilitate such a 'swap'.  It's perhaps possible for an ingenious CS rep to bodge such a thing.

@PheonixBlayne81

That's not entirely correct: Sky+/Sky+ HD boxes were always transferable, while Q hardware never was.

Glass televisions (and Stream pucks acquired before February this year) are also transferable: just to complicate things, pucks are now loaned instead

I'll give them a bell in the morning. 400 for an 8 month old 65 inch one was too good to pass up. Even if I use it as a dumb screen with an Apple TV, it'll be an upgrade for me. My Panasonic 55 is soo very dark when watching any HDR stuff

It's not exactly a dumb TV, if you have an aerial you can get freeveiw channels, plus you also have hdmi ports for consoles, firestick etc.

You have a choice for Freeview you have to turn off the Internet aspect of glass so you have no apps or leave the Internet side active but you can't have freeview.

Yes you can add third party firestick etc. But that's not a smart TV, you have to make a choice!

So keep the puck and get a smart TV that does not have enforced limitations is my preference. Only you can decide what's best for you.
