I can’t connect to Sky Stream without an BT connection?
Ive read on google searches that Sky Stream doesnt need a telephone line connection (openreach?) to operate. I need to move my router to get a more reliable internet connection - but the new location does not have a land line socket. Is the information that ive read incorrecr and Sky Stream does need a land line connection? Anh help on this would be helpful

Re: I can’t connect to Sky Stream without an BT connection?
@Mike+Davey You need a broadband service to be active at the address, moving your router to a location where there is no telphone point/ont connection means that you'll need to keep the router in the currnt location, otherwise no line connection means no service.
Not sure what BT has to to do with this unless thery are your broadband provider?

Stream television pucks use local WiFi.
That's entirely different to a broadband connection which does not have a copper or optical data cable: this would typically require a 4G or 5G cellular router, and Sky is not a cellular ISP.
Sky Stream is not broadband, although conventional Sky Broadband is sold alongside Sky Stream.

Re: I can’t connect to Sky Stream without an BT connection?
Thanks for that info. My new "location" is another room in the same house. I have broadband from Sky
the other room doesn't have a landline socket ( I used BT as a generic term to describe a landline socket)
so I moved the Sky router and tried to connect to the Sky Stream Puk - but without success. ? I hope that helps clarify my issue - "can I use Sky Stream without a land line connection" - at the moment I don't think I can? Thanks for any help

Re: I can’t connect to Sky Stream without an BT connection?
It does not need a telephone connection but it does need an internet connection which can be supplied by Openreach or other companies, like VirginMedia, that may operate in your area.
Why do you need to move the location of the router, moving the router is unlikely to improve its internet connection if you are currently using the master socket🤔

A terrestrial router needs a 'line' because that's what carries internet data.
Sky television hardware hasn't required its own direct phone line connection for a very long time: that was a thing in the days of Sky+. Most Sky+ HD boxes and all Q, Glass and Stream is capable of linking wirelessly back to the wired ISP router.
Again, I think you are confusing Stream (a Sky brand name for a subscription television content service) with broadband itself.

Re: I can’t connect to Sky Stream without an BT connection?
@Mike+Davey nothing to do with your Stream puck but your Sky Broadband hub has to be connected to an Openreach (aka BT) line in order to connect there has to be a physical connection to gst an Internet service.
You can buy longer cables from the hub tomthe phone socket if thst would help.
