How to get 2h 30 minutes in to a 3 hour live recording

I've just been trying to catch up on Euro footbal semi-finals. It's running live but the match has finished. I want to go back 30 minutes. On live I can't. So I go to 'Start from beginning'. In spite of FF, and voice control, all I have had is 20 minutes of the same adverts. I just can't ge to the point I want to. I'm stuck in an endless loop of ads, either from the beginning of the program or part way through. If I try to FF again, it ends up looping back and showing all the same endless ads. Is there a way, is it a bug and how do I show it's a breach of contract because it's just unusable and I want to escape this nightmare.

For this customer, the current arrangement is a deal breaker.

I wholeheartedly agree. I find excessive advertising abhorrent and totally ruins the viewing experience.
I'd have been happy to pay for an ad-free experience via Sky, not the hideously glitchy ad-fast forwarding experience we actually got.
It was a large part of the reason I cancelled completely. It just wasn't good enough.
I'd rather sacrifice UHD on a few shows via a Stream puck in favour of a glitch-free, ad-free experience via the NOW app on alternative hardware. After all, it should be all about the actual content the customer wants to watch, not about how much money Sky makes from the advertising.

Do you pay for ad skipping?

No, but I didn't pay to see the same ads over and over when all I am trying to do is go to a certain point in the recording. Moving fowards or backwards a couple of minutes can lead to another round of 5 minutes of ads.

Sadly, it's designed like this. Advertising on Sky Stream is a pretty painful experience. Your best bet is to check the MySky app - if you don't currently pay for ad skipping then there's usually a couple of months offered for free on there. Accept this then cancel it in the last month so you're not charged. The offer then usually reappears when the initial free period ends, so you can re-apply it.

Thanks for the advice - I had heard similar suggestions. If it is as designed, it's appalling. It endlessly skipped back to a point that I didn't want. As a design, it's a customer killer - at this point in time, it's so extremely irritating for me, and I had Sky HD before, I'll be swtiching back to BT/EE in spite of the excess cost as soon as contract is up and it's like to be a one-way trip!

Is the excess cost of returning to EE TV greater than the cost of ad skipping?

No, but it makes the diffference less, but it's become a principle thing. If watch a live show and see the ads once, then seeing each once during replay is accpetable. Endless repeating those ads over and over such that even after 30 minuteof trying I can not get the 2h 30m point is not. For me it comes across as sky saying 'We'll make the repetition is ads so unpleasant, that you'll pay us even more than you do after you've signed up to a contract. I feel misled and almost blackmailed in to paying higher because the product is so unpleasant in it's current state. I shall be going through a complaints process as the product I have is not what I was sold. No explained the ads nightmare (and I still can not believe the designers really intended it to work this way). I also read complaints even with ad skipping, including in truth it is not 'ad skipping' it's ad 'fast forwarding'. I feel so strongly about this, I'm willing to take it all the way to Ofgem.

@GB28 Suspect you mean Ofcom but if you want to get this changed complain to Sky by using this link How to make a Sky complaint | Sky Help | Sky.com

I also hate ads but we are getting more and more of them and becoming more like the US but given Sky are owned by Comcast perhaps that isn't surprsing

The GREAT advantage of NOWTV is you can use quality streaming devices😉

Hopefully they'll do a better job with Puck v2... even if most people are perfectly happy with Puck v1🤔
