Ged rid of Advertising, if i dont use Homepage for a while

1) Sky Stream ... If i press 'Home' then leave TV to go onto my Desktop PC ( For General Internet ) , My TV on wall, keeps cycling different SKY 'Advert' type messages about NEW Films etc ... its VERY distracting, if im on my Home PC , Can see it out corner of my eye .. Can i STOP this feature or TV (Stream ) shows program samples, every few seconds ... Its driving me MAD !

2) Also, If i leave my TV ( NO Action on Remote ) it cuts off after 10 mins ? Then i have to turn TV on again .. Its driving me MAD ! ..I gather this CANNOT BE DISABLED ??? 

3) When i record ( To Playlist ) When i go to watch back an episode, it doesnt say in BIG LETTERS Episode 12 , 27th Jan 2025 ... All i have is 'THumbnails, of say 10 Programs,, but thumbnail doesnt show me which episode is which ( Thumbnail pic is virtually the same on ALL EPISODES )  ??? I have to play a few to find 'Todays' Episode ( Channel 411 for example )

1.  This is a screen saver. Without this kind of feature the sky Home Screen could burn into your TV image.  You can't disable this. 

 

2. This is the default energy saving mode which unfortunately is currently not configurable. Hopefully one day you can. 

3. Yes this interface can be annoying if you're looking for a specific episode. It seems like Sky could solve this quite easily with a "recently aired" view but as of now I don't think this is available. 

Sorry that for your frustrations I don't think there's any solution at the moment. Please keep in mind you're not talking to Sky here, you're talking to other customers.

What i normally do, is select channel 301 .. its not available, so just leaves a 'Blue' screen , i think without the adverts cycling round and round  ( I leave my TV and go on Desktop PC, in different part of room, im fed up of using Remote to turn on TV, Turn on Sky .. Pick up the Remote, otherwise it goes into Standby ... Im sorry i got Sky Stream . Biggest waste of Time ever ... dont get me started on other useless features compared to my old Sky + / Sky Q etc .. but now im stuck with 'Stream' for certain reasons 😞

You can cancel, if using the remote, is that much bother...

I think im on a long Contract ( Sky Broadband with Stream ) ..... I need Sky, but cannot get a ariel at my place, so im stuck with the useless 'Stream'

Sky is delivered via a dish, not an ariel (sic).

 

If you call, you may find you can cancel Stream with 31 days notice..

I cannot get 'Dish' or Ariel fitted in my Housing ..... I can only get 'Stream' in my Housing  ....If i 'Cancel' ill have nothing ! I need Sky for only 1 programme really ! (411)  Even this is a waste of time, as i settle down to 'Watch' from 'Playlist' and its NOT There !! When i rang Sky, they said it happens, depend on provider to Sky or something ...... The whole 'Stream' is a Joke, wait till all the 'OLD' Boxes become obsolete soon (as stated in articles) .. Loads more people will HATE Stream  .... I cannot find any positves really about the set up ..only the 'Voice' activated Remote, everything else is a step Backwards to me ..I hope someone from Sky reads this also !

If you only need Sky for one programme then why not get it from NOW TV instead? 

NOW is an app, often pre-installed on some smart TVs or easy (and free) to download to most other streaming devices like a Firestick, Roku, Google Streamer or Apple TV 4K box. NOW is owned and run by Sky and allows subscribers to stream Sky programmes easily, without a long term contract, on a device of their choice. 

It's probably perfect for someone like you who only wants a small part of the full service which Sky Stream offers. It also gives ad-free streaming if you subscribe to Boost or Ultra Boost.
