I am expecting a Sky Puck today, 1st time user.
I read in the purchase instructions that it doesn't need a power supply. My TV is wall mounted, and there is very little room behind it.
I've since read that the Sky Puck needs a power supply. What is the case?

it comes with a power supply - doesn't draw from the hdmi like a usb- same here had to use a longer lead for the flush mount on the G4 but for the bedroom one it fits behind with the 4 way gang

Find out more@FrankieG although its tempting to place Stream pucks behind a wall mounted TV it is not the best position as it inevitably reduces the WiFi signal level. The pucks are designed to sit out in the open connected by a HDMI lead which explains the larger than normal power supply.

tbh i've never had an issue but absolutely agree they should be free from hindrance, im spoiled with the router youfibre provided me on 2g so that maybe why it's ok in the bedroom 😜

Certainly shouldn't state that in any material from Sky.
