Does Sky stream turn on automatically when i turn on TV

Hi Sky community 

I'm thinking off purchasing a Sky Stream box for my grandmother, what i wanted to know does the box turn on automatically when I turn the TV remote on? 

I have a Toshiba television , i want to know if its straight forward because I don't think she can handle two remotes . If the sky stream box comes on straight away and I can flick channels with number that would be great for her .  Don't think she will be able to select accounts and do a lot of clicking .

Sky Stream may be no good for her. If she can manage Netflix then she may be ok. Unfortunately it's not just a case of switching on and changing channels. It will go to a Home Screen and then she will need to navigate to the channels. @Tk202

Could you explain how it operates . Do I need to turn it on separately and then navigates account and stuff . Or is it like a normal TV with just turning on and then numbers.

The stream remote can be programmed to operate most TVs 

you turn the tv on with long press on the sky remote then press the home button to turn on the stream box 

thisnlands you on the homepage which is populated by tiles 

you need to scroll down a few rows to find "tv guide" then select the tile to enter the EPG

the quicker way is to use the voice button where you can say commands like tv guide or bbc1 and it will take you straight there

As mentioned above.

The Sky Stream remote will mostly replace your TV remote.

You will need your TV remote, when your TV asks for system updates or if you use specific apps, freeview and the like that are not available on Sky Stream.

On setup of Sky Stream, you programme the Sky Stream remote to control the TV,

So, on pressing the Sky Stream remote, the TV powers on to the correct hdmi that Sky Stream is on, displaying the Sky Stream home menu.

The Sky Stream also controls the tv volume and if you have can also control an external soundbar.

The Sky Stream with a long press will also place the TV and Sky Stream into standby mode when not using.
