Connecting sky puck to Samsung Freestyle projector

I've recently purchased a Samsung Freestyle projector, and have connected my Sky Puck to it using a micro hdmi to hdmi cable. It worked perfectly at first, and then i started experiencing missing sound, so i got round this by opening the samsung freestyle tv, and then going to HDMI on my freestyle device and then opening sky. But now, i'm getting loud interference noises when i open sky. I have spoken with Samsung who have told me what cable i should be using, (a gold plated micro hdmi - hdmi cable at 4k). This is the cable i am already using. So, can anyone advise or help me out.

Gold plating on an HDMI cable means nothing, the specification of the connectors and the speed of data transmission are what's important.

I would suggest you try a cable such as this one on Amazon - it would appear to be more than specified enough for your needs, but there's no guarantee it'll work with a Sky Stream puck. The pucks can be quite fussy about the devices they're attached to, particularly when they're not a TV. It needs to detect the relevant HDCP copy protection measures from the device it's attached to and Samsung are a bit vague about this on their website.

Make sure you set the puck to output HD rather than UHD because the projector seems to only be capable of HD. It doesn't sound like you'll be able to get HDR from the puck as it will only output this on UHD content.

Try the different sound output settings on the puck too - if you still get audio interference when set to Auto, try pass-through or PCM if you're using the speakers built in to the projector.

Suspiciously vague ; )

Give the output tops out at HD, I wonder if it's HDCP 1.4

Even the online e-manual offers zero mention of HDCP in any form:

Re: Connecting sky puck to Samsung Freestyle projector

Hey Ellie, just thank you so much for your help. The cable you have suggested is the one that I'm using. I went so far a to contact Samsung, and they told me I should be using a 4k cable gold plated. I have absolutely no idea about these things. So it's completely bamboozeling me.

There is an troubleshooting guide on the projector, and it detected a fault with the cable.

I will try your advice regarding HD on the puck and see if that helps.

thank you ☺️

Re: Connecting sky puck to Samsung Freestyle projector

Well that seems to have worked. I've changed to HD and PCW on the sky puck, and no interference noise so far. Muchas gracias amiga 😊
