Rubber gloves worked a treat. Still very hard to do, but they worked. Thanks, I nearly launched my remote out of the window!

They do need to work out another way to deal with this. It's very hard for anyone and importantly if one has a disability

Re: Can’t remove back of remote to replace batteries - very stiff
My neighbour and myself both have the same issue. We are in our 70's. She has arthritis but I don't and still can't get the back off. Our only solution has been to throw it forcefully to the floor and it comes apart. Sure it's not doing it any good but it seriously needs redesigning. Hope this helps in an emergency 😀

@Eliana1 I tend to drop kick mine!!! Seriously though it's a nightmare to open. I feel for someone like you who has arthritis. Whoever designed it needs to readdress

Re: Can’t remove back of remote to replace batteries - very stiff
Hi @Eliana1 and welcome to the forum. I am also in my mid 70s and agree that removing the back from the remote can be a problem as it is very stiff when you remove it for the first few times. Once I had it open I used a nail file to slightly round off the clips and it was much easier after that.
I find holding the remote at both ends with the buttons down and my thumbs on top and then applying pressure and pushing with one thumb and pulling with the other in the direction of the arrow is sufficient to remove the cover. Note the back only moves a few millimetres and can then be lifted off.
A number of people have found that wearing rubber kitchen gloves helps to give more purchase on the plastic components.
This LINK also shows a method of removing the back from the remote.

It's a real shame it's not easier. The other option is using the app on the mobile

I have no ideas how such a badly designed contraption was allowed. I ended up using a screwdriver to open the damaged thing. [Removed]
Moderator notes: Removed rude remark

If all else fails, a thin screwdriver at the end near the arrows. Lever carefully and it comes free. Terrible design
