I've got SkyQ at the moment but am looking at Sky Stream. I think I've got a fairly good understanding of how it works, but want to know if you can add a film shown on BBC, ITV, Film 4 etc to a playlist and watch it later.
Thanks.

Usually when you watch something on playlist you are sent to the appropriate app, iPlayer, ITVx etc.
This means that you can watch as long as it is available on that platform. I was surprised to find that Match of the Day is only available for a week!
I don't watch many films. As a test I just added a Tarzan film on ITV2 to my playlist. While the film was running I could wind it back and watch from the beginning.
Once it had finished I clicked it on the playlist. On the next screen there is a "Watch now" button which took me to Sky Store and options to buy or rent it. Going back one screen and clicking down I found buttons for Amazon Prime and ITVx.
So in this case there was no need to add to the playlist because I could have gone to ITVx and there is often no point in using playlist.

@Gordon-P The simple answer is Yes. Any film whether on the main terrestrial channels or most of the streaming services can be watched whenever you like. Putting it on your playlist helps as a reminder to watch it but even if you don't put it on your playlist it's still there to watch as are all programs and films.

@Gordon-P I'll observe that streaming rights are split into two categories namely "as live" and "on demand " and sold separately to broadcasters
some broadcasters only purchase as live meaning that if you add It to your playlist it will direct you to whichever service has the on demand rights at the time you watch the program back

Thanks for the information Bill and especially for doing the test.
You've pretty much confirmed what I thought which is a minor problem for me as my wife spends about half an hour a week going through the TV listings and setting films to record especially on Film4 ( and usually doesn't get round to watching them ).

@Gordon-P I have a wife with a similar problem, she doesn't restrict it to films it can be anything and often doesn't watch it and NEVER deletes them, one of the reasons for swapping to Stream as she now has her own Playlist and can do what she wants with that!😁

I've got a SkyQ box with a 2Tb hard disk and she managed to fill it up and got annoyed when it did it's own housekeeping to clear space. 🥺
I think you're right that Stream may be the way forward.

You can look forward to her complaining you don't have the relevant service subscription with rights to a particular movie😉
