Can I use an existing sky stream puck with my new subscription?

So my sky stream services contract ended yesterday, after I cancelled at the end of my contract.

I still have the puck as I own it, that was the state of things when I originally took out my contract, I understand now you rent and return them. So sky have not asked for this puck back.

Today I have signed up as a new customer and got a better deal than was being offered as a retention deal.

This again includes sky stream and they're sending me a new rented puck.

Does anyone know if until this arrives, I can activate my new accounts services on my old sky stream puck that I already have?

I've tested and you can fully reset the puck and go through linking up/activating the puck with your account all over again, which I've done once today with my old cancelled account,as you might guess no channels work, but the full menu is available again.

I was wondering if I could factory reset it again, but when activating it log in to mysky with my new account that has all TV services.

Even if that does work, my fear is that when the new box arrives, if I don't activate it within 21 days I think my contract might be cancelled, and I don't know if I can activate my new puck when it arrives if my services are already active ok my old puck.

Or perhaps at that point I could factory reset the old puck and activate the new one.

Either way I appreciate my issue is not urgent or important, I'm just curious if anyone else has done similar.

Regardless if you got this far thank you for reading my wall of text.

Hi @Bloomster

You should be able to. The only issue is that your owned puck will be set as the primary and then when you try to use your new puck, it will tell you you need to subscribe to whole home.

The way around this would be to set you new puck as primary or indeed subscribe to whole home if you want to use both.

See: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/your-devices-sky-glass for more information about primary devices.

Thanks for responding so quickly!

Do you reckon the option I suggested of when the new puck does arrive, resetting the old one and activating the new one would work too, leaving me with just the new puck on my account?

We've only got the one telly so the whole home side of things wouldn't be much use to use.

Thanks again 🙂

In this situation, if the puck is customer owned, sell it on eBay and use the new loaned puck from Sky. There are plenty of people who will buy them and the amount you make can go towards your monthly subscription.
