Best way to clean sticky residue which has got behind the buttons on Sky Stream Remote?
Pretty simple, this one, I hope.
One of my children spilt something (strongly suspected to be squash/fizzy drink or similar) on our Stream remote.
The buttons all work, but the sticky, clicky feeling they generate is most unpleasant. Is there a way to remove/dissolve the sticky residue that has got underneath the buttons?
I don't see an easy way to dismantle the remote casing, so was thinking maybe a squirt of WD40 or similar.
Has anyone any advice to share? I'd like to avoid buying a new remote if I can.
Many thanks

The easiest way is a lightly dampened lint free cloth however you might be find if the sugars in the drink have hit the circuit board, they'll start eating through and the remote with eventually stop working. You might be better off just buying a new remote.

And if you do need a new remote you can buy them on Amazon in various colours.

Re: Best way to clean sticky residue which has got behind the buttons on Sky Stream Remote?
Thanks everyone. The issue with the lightly dampened cloth approach will be that it won't clean behind the buttons.
New remotes are relatively expensive (£30?).
The question I should have asked is whether the buttons have a membrane between them and the circuit board. If so, a spray that migrates behind the buttons is viable. If not, well...
I've just taken a punt on a used remote on ebay. It was only £8 including postage. If it works OK, I'll forge ahead with more aggressive repair methods on the old one.
