BBC Sounds no longer in my radio apps Sky stream

I've had Sky stream for around 4 months now. Under the apps & inputs I found the various radio apps and to my delight BBC Sounds was there along with lots of others.

Now it's gone, together with all the others. All I have is Capital FM,LBC,, etc... then on the other I only have the woeful Irish radio stations.

What has happened ?

Hi @Docwill

It is still there for me on all my pucks and glass. Try powering off at the mains in the first instance and running an app refresh in the settings > apps and updates menu.

Also what happens if you say BBC sounds into your remote? Does it open it as expected?

Re: BBC Sounds no longer in my radio apps Sky stream

Hi

Ive tried switching off at mains & rebooting, also updating apps, but to no avail. On the global player I only have the LBC, Smooth FM, Classic, etc. nothing else. There is another app with Irish stations on it.

If it's a geo-location lock due to me being in Ireland it is indeed a sad day for the BBC world service - not even sure now if they are on sounds.

I have the global player on my Apple TV and everything is still there, so it looks like the problem is posssibly with Sky/geo-location lock or licensing restrictions with the BBC which seems a bit daft as I can access on my Sounds app on my iPhone.

The perils of being an expat abroad!

Thanks for getting back to me.

Hi @Docwill

I hadn't appreciated that you were outside of the UK, even with the reference to woeful Irish stations! Yes likely a geo restriction.

Hopefully someone else can confirm if this is the case!

BBC World Service is the one BBC product which is available everywhere (although not necessarily on every device)

The rest of the BBC is mostly available in the Republic of Ireland for historical reasons, but that's largely a political arrangement and not a guarantee.

Re: BBC Sounds no longer in my radio apps Sky stream

I'm not sure why they all disappeared, maybe they pushed through an update.  Disappointed though, it seems daft - we get BBC Northern Ireland and it's programming.  But why to hell not radio?   There are no radio stations on the apps apart from the Irish stations and the Smooth FM crowd.

I use my Apple TV for all my streaming anyway, so all is not lost. I picked up the offer for Sky for the TV.... Think I'm regretting changing from Virgin.

Thanks!
