August Price Increase more than 10%
My Sky Stream has gone from £42.50 to £48.50 which is around 14%, I wouldn't have signed in the first place if I knew it was pushing close to £50 after one price increase, It would help if the product was running smoothly as well, it's keeps crashing on start up and I am having having constant picture and sound drop outs especially on live sports.
Can I complain about this or do I have to take it on the chin because to be honest I could quite easily cancel sky stream, not that impressed with it compared to Sky Q.

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
Hi @TRINANN It is most probable that some of your initial subscription offers are expiring. You can check this in the bills section of your MySky account at www.sky.com or by selecting the MySky button on your TV home screen (about 15 rails down).
Sky usually has an annual increase in April but not at other times of the year. To make sure I have just checked my upcoming bills as far as September and there is no increase showing.
If you feel the need to do so you can make a formal complaint at THIS link.
With regards to your viewing issues your puck may be losing the network connection when it is in standby which is why you get issues when your first turn it on. If you go into the Settings > Start up & standby menu make sure that the option for "Networked standby mode" to ON. I would also turn OFF the overnight power saving.
I would also check the WiFi speed being received at your puck. This can often be considerably less than you receive at the router. This can be checked with the Netflix App (Get help > Check network). The minimum speeds recommended by Sky are as follows:
HD = 25mbps
UHD = 30mbps
HD + 1 puck = 30mbps
UHD + 1 puck = 35mbps
These speeds assume there is nothing else using up your bandwidth.
Good luck.

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
Not directly related to question but why does everyone recommend turning off overnight power saving?

Because this appears to help with ongoing reliability and makes negligible difference to an electricity bill.

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
What they do [removed] is base your increase on the FULL PRICE, which is how they get away with it being technically more than 10%
Wouldn't be possible on a mobile SIM contract,but that is better regulated.
Mine is jumping next month from £38.50 to £45.00, nearly 17%!

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
Not sure what happened to my last post, are you not allowed an opinion here?
My sub is going up from £38.50 to £45.00, an increase of nearly 17%, make of that what you will.
What they do is base your increase on the FULL PRICE of the sub, then give you the same discount as when you signed up, hence they keep the rise under 10%.
The Sky Stream service is so poor and unreliable, I'll be thinking twice about whether to keep on with this as it's easy to cancel mid "contract" with Sky Stream, as it's a streaming service and thankfully there are rules for this, never mind that it's not actually fit for purpose.

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
When I signed up at the Start I took into consideration no more than 10% rise. I feel a little cheated by Sky with 14%+ price increase. They have lost a customer alone on this issue. Cheeky [removed]

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
Can you downgrade some of package mid contract to take the monthly price down abit. I would like to downgrade from Ultimate to Essential and possibly get rid of Sky Cinema. I essentially only signed up for the Sports with the bill creeping upto £50 I regret big time signing up now, especially with another price rise to come next year.

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
Same thing happened to me. They attempted to increase my bill for Sky Q well over 10%, because they claim my discount expired (though I have an email stating that my discounts continue into August 2026). I complained and Sky have agreed to terminate my contract without penalty. I would have preferred to stay, but after 20 years as a customer I am fed up of their mid-contract price rises. They do not treat customers well at all.

Re: August Price Increase more than 10%
I was able to cancel contract as well, I am so grateful to get out of this two year contract so early. Two years is long and I was a little naive signing up, but I didn't expect the product to be so buggy. I have also gone ahead and cancelled TV License. From now on just going to use one streaming service a month. I have Disney + for 4 months at £1.99, a big saving now.
