Re: Sky store now download only?

Sky or any other site will buy the rights to stream they don't do it per capita. They will then decide how much to charge for it either with or without the help of the distributor.  You obviously found it clearer than I did and whether you do or don't want a DVD is personal choice. Your choice is to do everything digitally and that's great but my choice is I won't do it again and I don't think I will be the only one.

Re: Sky store now download only?

That's a shame to hear that this means that I will no longer be purchasing via sky store as I require the physical disc

Hi @Hobedo

So far as we know, Sky intend to recommence the sale of DVD / Blu-ray as soon as their resources allow

I have not seen a date yet but I'm " watching this space"

Re: Sky store now download only?

Sky must be losing a lot of revenue due to this decision. I also like to own the physical media, its nice to lend to family and doesn't take up valuable space on my Sky box. The best thing about Sky store was that I could order a physical disc, but then watch it straight away.

I understand that due to the current climate Sky are unable to dispatch discs, which is fine I'm happy to wait a little longer for the disc to arrive. But by removing the option to order the disc as well has totally put me off using the service. Instead I've ordered the film I wanted from Amazon

Re: Sky store now download only?

I would happily buy digital if sky store included subtitles

Hi @VSLJames

"doesn't take up valuable space on my Sky box."

Just on this point- if you have a buy and keep movie taking up space on your box, you can archive it and re download it later

There can be a potential issue if you archive a movie that Sky no longer have a licence for - but Sky are meant to advise you if that's going to happen

Wow, I feel robbed now, I purchased the rise of skywalker thinking that buy and keep meant that I would get the dvd through the post and I've patiently waited like others knowing that covid 19 has put a halt on things but it's only by going through this thread that I have found out that I only bought the digital copy only! If it had stated when going through the purchase that it was a digital copy only before pressing the buy button i wouldn't of bought it, i would of gone else where.

I wonder how many of your customers have done the same thing without knowing? I really hope that once things calm down that we do get the option to purchase the physical copy at a nominal price because if not then I feel that it has been miss sold!!

Re: Sky store now download only?

Just noticed that some DVD and blu Ray options are back but very limited at the moment and as usual no word from sky about reinstating dvd and bru ray option.

Hi @Totalwar2

I think what you are seeing is the gradual reintroduction of normal service (a bit like coming out of lockdown)

hopefully the posting out of ordered discs from March will happen soon if it hasn't already started

Re: Sky store now download only?

I ordered in a copy of last Christmas on dvd and when I ordered it as previously as I alway's order it was for a hard copy. Being a huge George Michael fan I only ordered to get a hard copy in the post. Order made before June now I know the option was there at the time I place it but it appears now with no warning I can't have my hard copy. So now I'm out of pocket and got to order elsewhere. How come I can order a hard copy of Jojo rabbit? Still says I can yet this is available to buy in the shop's as I bought one. Seems your rules only apply to dvds you choose.  I know when I ordered it the option was there. I will send a email to Martin Lewis seems I'm not the only one who had the dvd taken away after placing the order.   I would like my dvd or my money back please as I was not informed of changes to my order and mislead on my sale. The order does not what I expected so I require a refund.

The DVD wasn't taken away as it wasn't there for you to order in the first place so to see if Sky will send you one that why not get in contact with them:

Hi @Anonymous

From March 28th (approx) to June 16th (approx) Sky did not have any DVDs or Blurays on sale

The reintroduction of discs started about a week ago for several titles but a minority of those in the store

as @caesarome suggests , do contact the Skystore team to discuss, but if you ordered between these dates and check your email confirmation  I'm sure it will say download only

Sky employees have said that on a case by case basis they may consider upgrading to dvd / Blu-ray and will presumably charge a (hopefully small) upgrade fee

but you would need to contact the Skystore team. Best of luck

Re: Sky store now download only?

Thank you for your response Mike that's a bit more informative.    I feel annoyed being a huge George fan. I alway's double check everything I seriously wouldn't have ordered it had I known.  I wanted the dvd to take away with me in my caravan.  Oh well looks like it was a waste  next time I will use Amazon.        Thanks for your reply.
