Re: Sky store now download only?

Would be interesting to know what they say the price of digital copy with dvd is normally. I've just been through all receipts, so would be happy to pay the difference of £0 to add a dvd!

Re: Sky store now download only?

Haha, were my thoughts exactly. Don't understand why they haven't just postponed the despatch of the hard copies. Unless they plan on jacking up the price to cover themselves. Either way, not a very good business sense for customer retention. Gonna cost them an awful lot to provide customer correspondence for all those that want/should have got their dvd

Re: Sky store now download only?

Hi @Jh340

The FAQs you link to do state:

"What is Sky Store?

Sky Store is the easy way for everyone to buy or rent the newest blockbusters, all-time classic movies and the biggest TV shows whenever you want - even if you don't have Sky TV. Watch anytime, anywhere on a wide range of devices.

- New movies and TV shows added every week
- The latest movie releases direct from the cinema
- Watch on up to four devices
- Rent movies from 99p or buy and keep from £7.99
- Buy and keep TV shows from £9.99
- When you buy a movie or TV show, you can choose from up to 3 options;
- The digital version available across your compatible devices
- The digital version and a DVD in the post
- The digital version and a Blu-ray in the post"

Before the DVD and Blu-ray options were removed, Frozen 2 was sold at £13.99 for HD Digital, £15.99 for HD Digital + DVD and £17.99 for HD Digital + Blu-ray.

The HD Digital only price is still at the same £13.99 price as before  when DVD / Blu-ray options were available.

The "Keep" part of Buy & Keep is the HD Digital copy that you can access on your Sky boxes and devices, and even if you leave Sky in the future, you still keep access on your devices via the Sky Store app and SkyStore.com on your online devices.

Naturally, when we also offered DVD/Blu-ray purchase options, the DVD/Blu-ray was also part of this "Keep" as well, but you paid extra for these physical purchase options. The choice was there to add physical or not.

Kind Regards,

Re: Sky store now download only?

What about the question below "what is sky store" in the link I posted, "what is buy and keep"? You don't seem to have referenced that. I would also be happy to pay the £2 difference for the dvd when this is over, if you can send details of how to do this.

Re: Sky store now download only?

What is Buy & Keep?

Buy a movie or TV show from Sky Store and get it in HD straight to your TV and devices and on DVD or Blu-ray to keep and watch again and again. Many new release Buy & Keep movies and TV shows are available digitally early so they're yours to watch before they're out in the shops.

Re: Sky store now download only?

No need to worry @Totalwar2Any order or pre order made when the Digital + DVD or Digital + Blu-ray options were available will still be fulfilled as per the order type placed.

If you have placed an HD Digital + Blu-ray order for Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker you'll still get the physical copy in around 10 days from official physical release date.

Re: Sky store now download only?

@Anonymous  Would you be able to answer my point about "What is buy and keep" just for clarification.  Surely anyone reading this faq would be lead to believe, like I was, that they would also receive a physical copy as it specifically states this is what buy and keep is. I understand we are in difficult times and everything is running differently, but this doesn't mean that services should be mis-sold. The faq needs changing for future purchases, it is very misleading. I read it before purchasing and would obviously have rather paid less elsewhere if I knew it wasn't true.

Re: Sky store now download only?

  • This is a complete cash cow for sky. £13.99 for a digital copy only (which is basically sky selling the same copy over and over again)
  • When you buy the buy and keep your buying the physical copy and the digital is only for convince hence only being £2 extra.
  • If at any time in the future we decide to leave sky all digital copy's are lost. Yes that's right all those £13.99 we spend are all for nothing
  • I'm sure we all understand how covid 19 is causing global crisis but cashing in is not one of them

Re: Sky store now download only?

Your digital copy will be still be available on sky store.com and if you go back to sky within 12 months the Digital movies will still be available on the SkyQ box.

You are paying for a licence that allows you access to the HD Digital content on your compatible Sky box and your registered compatible devices for Sky Store, such as Now TV/Roku, PC/laptop, Android/iOS smartphone or tablet, LG Smart TV and Chromecast. The latter compatible devices allow access even if you leave Sky TV in the future.

It's not the same digital licence issued over and over again.

It's the other way around. Normally, you are buying a HD Digital copy and can choose to add on the DVD or Blu-ray for convenience at an extra £xx.

This is simply not the case. You keep access to your HD Digital content on a wide range of compatible devices, even if you leave Sky at any point in the future.

I am sorry you feel this way.

I'd just like to point out that the HD Digital content we provide is the same price as it was before we had to take the decision to remove the physical purchase option, which is a lower cost to HD Digital + DVD.

Take care and stay safe.

Re: Sky store now download only?

I was referring on leaving sky not returning within 12 months.

With the pricing implemented on sky store (£13.99 for digital, £15.99 for digital+dvd) it would be interesting to have the sales data on how many only brought the digital version before this move. It seems a no brainer to me that the extra £2 is just to cover p+p

Can sky confirm that after this I will be able to upgrade my purchase for £2 to have a dvd sent to my home? If so then this would easily be resolved.
