I have some purchased films, going on holiday so want to download them to my ipad to watch while away. Downloaded sky store app and am able to watch them through that but when i try to download them it says that there is insufficient space on my device. To download the HD version is 3.4gb and when ive looked at ipad storage is shows that i have over 40gb free space so can't work out why it won't download. I'vetried downloading the SD version too but this also fails

I had this problem but managed to solve. It seems the message about storage space is misleading - it's actually a permissions issue. To fix it, uninstall the app then reinstall it. When you have entered your username and password the app will ask a number of permission-related questions. Respond "yes" to all of them i.e. grant all of the permissions it requests. After I did this I was able to download films successfully. I hope this works for everyone else!
