I've purchased a Sky store movie as I got sent a code from yourselves for a free movie but it's charged me £13:99

I had a similar offer which worked fine but you do have to follow the instructions in the email and click on the link contained in the Skystore email.
That takes you to a list of movies which the code will work with. Also - the purchase has to be done online - not for example on a Sky Q box
If you tried a different way that's probably why it charged you - but in either event the suggestion from @MightyQuinn is really the way to go.
