How to watch a rented film on tv

Hi, just rented a film through British gas rewards on my mobile but it's not showing up on sky Q box?

Hi @Rumer1967 Unfortunately it won't. You can only view rented films on the device you have rented it on. To view on your tv you have to rent it via your Sky box.

You can purchase a Buy and Keep film and watch it on your Sky Q box but not rental films.

That would be down to rights restrictions imposed by the studios that provide the rental titles.

Hi @Kugaman1 Unfortunately it does say you cannot view rentals on your tv.

Hi, if you have an LG smart TV you can watch movies rented on another device on your TV 📺 😀

Re: How to watch a rented film on tv

I have done the same, rented fim, sat down to find in planner and its not there.  Called help to be told it should 'of' (sic) been made clear that you could not watch on your actual TV with your actual sofa but had to watch on another device (on a tiny screen!!!)

BUT I found this ........

"How can I watch it?
Your Sky Store title in SD is ready to watch at home or on the go - whenever you are connected.
To watch your purchase on your compatible mobile / tablet, download the app from iTunes or Google Play. "

This is as clear as mud,  to me at home means on my actual telly.

Totally agree. This is a load of bull. Complaint going in tomorrow and refund demanded. Suggest we all do the same. Make it cost Sky money. Them maybe something gets done.

Given that the restriction has always been in place and is in the terms and conditions of use I don't see how you can demand a refund, it's up to the customer to read the terms and conditions to fully familiarize themselves with the service and any restrictions.

Re: How to watch a rented film on tv

When one has a Q box, seeing the words, 'Watch at Home' would legally tend to imply that a mobile device was unnecessary, as at that point, one wasn't mobile,  one was at 'Home'

Sky is on very shaky ground there.

Much easier to just refund the cash or issue a credit and let the subscriber respend it with Sky so that they can watch the way they want to without getting all antsy about terms and conditions. and polluting goodwill.

... which is exactly what Sky have just done when I called them.

No fuss, no quibble. Issued a refund.
