Chrome cast showing error 5000 when trying to view purchased film via SkyStore on Sony Bravia TV.

Have left Sky and transferred to EE TV and broadband as much cheaper subscription. Have NOW and able to access old Sky channels via the new contract

I made several purchases of films with Sky which show up on Sky Store on iOS and play OK. I'm able to chrome cast the trailers of the films but when try to watch the film an error message appears error 5000.
how do I resolve? A phone call to Sky Store not very helpful.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

There doesn't appear to be a fix to this 5000 error as you are one of a few that have reported this one on here over the last few weeks, A post from a year or so ago from another member said that they got it working in the end by keep trying but that apart at ptesent there isn't anything else you can do.

How old is your TV it may support Air Play ... A Roku device should also give access to your purchases😉

Hi, thanks for your response.

TV is only a couple of years old. Sony Bravia which does support AirPlay.
Tried installing a Chromecast app without any success.
Not sure what Smart LG TVs run to make them a " compatible device".
How does Roku work ?

LG TVs use the webOS system which has a Sky Store app... Roku streaming devices support a Sky Store app because in the past Roku made NOW TV boxes for Sky. Roku streaming devices connect to the HDMI port on your TV😉

Re: Chrome cast showing error 5000 when trying to view purchased film via SkyStore on Sony Bravia TV

We have had this issue since the summer, sky store does not stream to chromecast any more. Error 5000 from iphones, laptops etc, it's all the same.

We called them up at the end of August, and were told that due to a change in DRM, chromecast functionally was not working in sky store any more.

That they were working on a fix and the next update of the Sky Store app should resolve this.

This hasn't happened in the month since, so we're still stuck with several dozen movies that we can't watch on our TV which is really annoying. Even plugging a hdmi into our (fairly old) tv doesn't work as it doesn't support HDCP.

So for anyone who's Googling error 5000 on sky store, that seems to be the issue

I'm getting this on every device I try. 2 devices at home and in various hotel rooms. Spent £100's on movies and it just doesn't work. Sky you're not worth spending anything on anymore!!!!

Re: Chrome cast showing error 5000 when trying to view purchased film via SkyStore on Sony Bravia TV

I get the impression that the update on the 15th november will hopefully resolve this.

from my understanding of drm and their in app announcement, I'd imagine the current system they're using is being replaced , which is why they're deleting all the downloads and making people re download them. So hopefully when the new ones come back online they'll be chromecast able again, but yeah it's been support annoying to be locked out of the content on a device they say they support and they've been so silent on this, they should give some credit for the inconvenience for affected people

Any luck with this yet? Having the same problem even since a recent update - and a fun new issue that it says I've been offline for 0 days please use the app with internet (which I'm doing already) - what a giant pain. Resolved when I log out and back in but still no ability to cast. Family of 4 sitting round an iPad screen....
