I'm looking to purchase a particular Sky Original film, and as there is no DVD release for this, I'm wanting to know if I can watch Sky 'Buy & Keep' films online without signing up to a Sky subscription?

Yes you can. The only thing you need to be careful with - is how you plan to view it. The Skystore apps can't be mirrored to a TV from say an IOS device
Recent LG TVs are ok as they can host the Skystore app. PCs are OK.
Chromecast is usually ok. There is a section on the help page which explains more

I'm not certain that's correct @Exiled-in-HH
I was about to say I preferred your definition to mine, but checking the help page it now says WebOS 3 and above (it used to say WebOS1 and above)
"You can also watch Buy & Keep movies and TV shows on your:
- PC/Mac
- Android/iOS using the Sky Store app
- NOW TV and Roku
- LG Smart TV (WebOS3 or above)"

Oh I agree @Exiled-in-HH , your definition was clearer than mine in terms of "recent" (I need to stop using that word as it's pathetically vague)
I was just making the point that the help page appears to now exclude OS prior to WebOS 3
