upgrade from sky SD to skyQ
hi to all
today we phoned sky to upgrade from sky SD to sky Q because our sky SD channels will soon be switched off now we asked will the satellit dish and lmb be changed we have had sky for at least 20 years or more and our satellite dish is one that was first used by sky and installed now the person we talked to said that our satellite dish will not have to be replaced the engineer will just install the skyQ 2tb box and multiroom box is this correct

Re: upgrade from sky SD to skyQ
The LNB will need changing. An engineer may change the dish if the current one is not working correctly or badly rusted.

Re: upgrade from sky SD to skyQ
The LNB has to be changed without doubt.
The dish will be replaced if necessary too.

As mentioned by the others & in my notes SKY will replace that & renew the cabling & quite likely the dish as well

hi @mgrover75
I am not too sure what you mean by a MK3 dish - is that an independent installed dish ?
SKY staff won't work with non SKY dishes
Are you thinking of upgrading from SKY +/HD - if so you may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Incidentally it's LNB, for Low-Noise Block downconverter.

Re: upgrade from sky SD to skyQ
Just to be clear if you need a new dish the engineer will fit one as part of the upgrade.
They won't upgrade the LNB on a non-SKY dish

Re: upgrade from sky SD to skyQ
hi to all
it is a sky dish and it was installed over 20 years ago the LNB fits inside the arm and not like the mk4 over the arm and looking on the internet there is an adapter for the older dishes so that the sky q LNB can be fitted to the older dishes and i was wondering if the technition will supply this adapter

Hi @mgrover75
As previously posted on numerous occasions just forget about the adaptor as a complete new dish can be installed.
