A quick question if I may on behalf of my elderly parents. They've got a rather old Sky+ box and would like to upgrade to a more modern SkyQ box. My question is would I be able to organise this on the phone on their behalf or would they have to do it themselves? The thing is they're both hard of hearing and would struggle doing it on their own, I have Sky myself and would rather sort on their behalf.
Also, is there any specific charges involved when they upgrade or is it for free? They've been Sky Customers for years and they don't really want to pay out any more money than they really have to.
Many thanks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf they've recently received a letter about changing to Sky Q it should include a dedicated 0333 number to call. If you are named as a person who can call Sky on their behalf and can answer the security questions give it a try.
On a sidenote, it may be worth you registering your parents with the Sky Accessibility Team who may be able to help in the future. Once registered there are also different methods of communication with this team

You may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q on behalf of your parents

'Free' is a rather slippery concept: obviously Sky would prefer to be earning more from any particular household. Typically they offer either an 'upgrade' installation or subscription at 'no extra cost' but not both.
You can, of course, try to insist on no up-front 'fee' and no increase in monthly cost: they don't have to agree.
