Your laptop needs to be on the same network as the Q box to view recordings. 

If you are away from home then you can just search for and stream the content you want to watch directly on the Sky Go app. You can't access recordings or downloads on your home Q box.

Do you have a multiscreen subscription  ?

You need this to be able to access/download recordings form your SKY Q box)

Although I think  customers who have SKY Go Extra can also do this
