the source is set to freeview, and when i try to scroll down using the remote nothing happens

The source for my sky q box has reset itself to freeview so I am just seeing 'no signal' on a blue screen, and pressing 'home' does not change that. To change the sourceI should press source on my remote, then scroll down to hdmi. The problem is that when i try to scroll up and down using the buttons on the remote, nothing happens. I have checked the batteries. I have checked that the remote is paired. I have turned eveything off, waited 5 minutes and turned it all on again. Still no result. So I can't watch the tv at all.

You need to use the remote that came with your TV, not the Sky Q remote, to select the HDMI input that your Sky Q box is connected to. Once you've done that you can go back to using the Sky remote.
