Hi our set up
sky q main box on ethernet to router, with LG (main tv)
sky q mini box on wifi to router with Sony tv
for years this has worked fine, however now:
the mini box will not connect to the main sky q box if the the main LG tv switches off even if the sky q main box is switched on with green light
im assuming that something is telling the sky q main box to "stop" when the LG tv is switched off - but it never used to do this - what settings should I be looking at or is it more serious...
Any help gratefully recieved
thanks in advance
simon

Assume you are on Sky Broadband?
Which Q device is nearest to the mini. Main Q box or Router?

Hi thanks for response
No, on BT broadband (main Sky Q box working fine - wifi working fine for all other devices in house)
Q mini box on wifi always used to work fine (mini box works if I plug long ethernet in to router)
thanks

in terms of distance - main box is on ethernet is about 10m of cable and mini box on wifi is about 2.5m from router (in oppoiste direction) so total distance between main and mini is about 12.5m

On 3rd party broadband the mini if using WiFi will not connect reliably to 3rd party routers.
You need to connect it by WPS to the main Q box.
If all Q boxes are connected to the router by Ethernet then this is fine.
If connecting the mini by WiFi carry out a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).
Failing all of the above you may need a Sky Q WiFi Booster to position midway between your main Q box and the mini and you will need to contact Sky directly.

Appreciate the reply - i tried to reset the connection many times yesterday afternoon as you suggested, even moved the sky q mini to within 10 feet of the sky main box but didnt resolve.
Once it was closer it did connect to the main box but it couldnt get an IP address from the router - and in fairness I need it to have a fixed ip so that I can allocate sky to one of the broadbands - tried entering the correct details manually but to no avail - as then it said it couldnt connect to the sky box again - so just went in circles.
In any event, even if it was successful it sounds as though it will be too far away from the sky main box to work without the sky booster as you suggest.
I think I need to have a re-think about sky q etc, maybe look at the other sky products - in any event I can still use through sky go on the apple - thanks for responding
