free mini box - have I been duped ?

Hi A guy from Sky phoned me todayand said he would upgrade my sky+ box to a new Sky q box and he would also add a mini box as I have been a loyal customer for over 24 years. I have read that a mini box requires a multi-room subscription. I wasnt made aware of this at the time of the phone conversation or I would have said keep your mini box! My question is, have I been duped into paying for a multi-room subscription which I didnt want by accepting what I thought was areward for loyal service.

Depends on what price you agreed?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Probably, yes: for Sky 'free' as in no up-front cost is not the same as 'free' as in no additional monthly subscription.

Historically the 'VIP upgrade' always included a Mini box and so the Multiscreen subscription is chargeable.

The 'free' minibox probably means they've removed the standard admin/activation fee. It won't actually function without a multiscreen subscription. The cost of this should be listed on your account.
