can you use you broadband on holiday

i read online that you can use your sky q mini box as a mobile hotspot when away from home but dont know how. is this possible

No, you've read it wrong...

 

you can use a mobile as a hot spot but not your mini...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

I would love to know where you read it as per @PandJ2020  that info is complete nonsense.

 

Even if you took your mini on Holiday (which itself would be a breach of T & C's) it could never work as it needs to be connected to your main Q box and simply put your broadband can't follow you around from one place to another as it is a physical connection within your home.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

A Q Mini box can be a 'wireless hotspot' when at your home address: where Sky is the ISP it does so automatically by rebroadcasting the same WiFi SSID as the Sky Hub.  This is a very different function to a 'mobile' (cellular) hotspot.
