by adding sky cinema you will re-contract sky tv

My current contract which contains Sky Signature, HD and UHD with Netflix UHD is due to expire in Jan 2025. I have been given an offer to add Sky Cinema for £9 extra a month. When I attempt to add it I am told 'by adding sky cinema you will re-contract sky tv'.

When I go to the basket it shows that Netflix UHD is seperate now from the Sky UHD package and that I will be moved over to the new packages of Sky UHD and Netflix UHD.  It gives discounts on those packages and the end result is that my bill will actually rise by £8.50 per month.

My question is about the recontracting. Will this start a new 18 month contract against all of my packages or will it just be Sky Cinema that I am contracted to. There is something that makes me feel like I'm being duped into something when maybe I should just stay as I am and re negotiate a new contract in January. I would have Sky Cinema if this really was a good deal but more for the Paramount plus free access as the wife likes Star Trek.

All of it. That's why they're offering that carrot. I think their warning is pretty clear so not sure "duped" is fair.

hi @Anonymous

Such offers are usually tied to a subscription for that element for 18 months.

It isn't likely to  recontract you to other elements such as Multiscreen (although there is a chance) - it will be in the small print

You will, however,  have to keep SKY Signature until the Cinema contract expires as you can't have Cinema without - but note any discount you have on Signature  & anything else could (is likely to)  expire before the Cinema one -  resulting in a further increase or need for  another Recontract at that point to take further discounts at that point

The Netflix structure changed at the end of last year - with new 'Boost' options and separating it from any SKY add ons. Any change in subscription triggers the switch to this new Netflix structure  - hence the increase

Good point on multiroom, didn't consider that.
