Zero sky loyalty for existing customers!!!

Been a sky customer for a number of years, have full package costing £160 per month to find out today that a new customer signed up for the same package for £96. Can this be right surely not?

Probably right, but remember the new customer price is only temporary and then they'll end up paying a higher price too once it expires.

Yup.  It's harder to attract new customers than keep existing ones.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Yes. It's correct, but a lot of customers won't necessarily think it's right. All providers do this. You'll have benefited from a new customer discount when you joined and if you leave and go elsewhere in 18/24 months you'll be in the same situation there.

They'll likely give you some kind of discount since you have so many of their services if you threaten to cancel and accept a 2 year lockin.

Re: Zero sky loyalty for existing customers!!!

They offered me £120 a month,

Virgin with all the multi room boxes, platinum netflix, sky sports, movies etc £104.99 so I've made the switch.

I do like sky but saving money is more important

You may need to switch back again when your Virgin 'contract' expires.

Re: Zero sky loyalty for existing customers!!!

After researching the virgin customers they do get better offers when contracts are coming to an end, but my accountant did mention he jumps between the 2 to get the best deals

Yup, you'll always get the best deal as new customer.  Many don't switch but then can't really complain...

That's still high, I've got two friends who got the full package for 45quid. Some had letters at 38quid from the sky vip team. Everyone seems to pay different prices, mine at 72quid  with multi room.

Virgin now automatically offer a 'good' deal to recontract online before the contract expires.

The price only goes full if you decline to re-contract.

Re: Zero sky loyalty for existing customers!!!

True but equally it costs a lot to aquire a customer and the LTV for SKY is insane.

It doesn't make sense to have people cancel on you which is happening a lot , right now.

25 years with SKY.

I admittedly have all the bells and whistles but my bill is now rapidly approaching £2k a year.

I am actively now looking at Freesat+ Disney +Netfix or EE TV etc.

It's getting to the point SKY is really becoming a luxury.

Re: Zero sky loyalty for existing customers!!!

What do you mean by "full package" ?

£38 , nope.

Somebody is exagerating in the pub for effect.

You can likely get Sky signature £28 or so if you threaten to cancel.

You can likely get SKY HD for £2 like I do.

Sky Cinema £10

Sky sports for aroubd £25 on a good day + £2 for HD

ultra hD £2-£4

There''s no universe he is paying £38 for all that

Re: 23 years & a “VIP” but can’t get a “new customer” deal

This.

SKY has done the math.

It's far more profitable to lose some customers than reduce long-term customer bills via loyalty discounts.

I calculated I have now paid tens of thousands for SKY over 2 decades +

I am only finallky now  as my bill reaches £2k a year saying enough is enough and cancelling.
