I've been testing this morning again using only videos on the Sky YouTube channel (irony) and a short pause doesn't cause any issues, but anything longer than 10 - 15 seconds does.

Yeah, not being able to replicate it is a real cop out. It always happens after pausing. It started doing this in 2024. It only happens on the Sky YouTube app on the sky q box. Not on Virgin boxes Do your job and fix what you screwed up. Can't be that hard.

You know they don't write the apps, right?

This is not actually a new topic. I'm just reving it I suppose as the problem is still going on. Its about videos pausing on u-tube all the time, and then when the video re-starts, which is after about 30 seconds, the video re-starts at a position about 10 or 15 seconds before it stopped. So you are watching the same material again that you have just watched. Also, some people are experiencing a loss of sound too and also a problem with lip sync timing going wrong. This is a problem that has been going on for well over a year in trying to watch u tube videos on the sky q box. I talked to a sky telephone lady who said it was not a sky problem it was a problem with broadband. I have changed my broadband equipment and have a very good signal strength and speed. When I said this to the lady she said it was because I have a "3rd party" broadband, thst my broadband is not with sky. I thought broadband is just broadband whoever supplies it. Just like electricity, no matter what electricity supplier you have, still boils the water in your kettle. In a Sky help forum, called Sky Community there are 169 entries of people having problems watching u tube on sky equipent. They are not having problems watching u tube on their phone, laptop or tablet. The website address is :- https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/YouTube-on-Sky-Q-quot-loading-quot-after-pausing/td-p/4456371/pag... and the forum is with Sky Community. Could anyone advise me on this problem.

I'm having this issue as well. My YouTube either:
1. Crashes and I have to forward it to get it to restart, it rolls back a minute or so.
2. Loses sound, again I have to forward it slightly to regain the sound. When the sound goes, I know it will crash not long after. It always happens and very predictable.
3. Totally crashes out of the app.
It has been happening for at least a year now, but I've just lived with it, but it is extremely annoying. My software is all up-to-date.
My broadband is Sky, so what she told you was wrong.

Since I posted my optimistic fix I have fallen foul of the same problem after pausing. We're a year on ...

Exactly the same issue here. A pause of longer than 15 seconds or so causes the video to crash and buffer endlessly a few seconds after you resume playback. A workaround of fast forward, rewind, play, in quick succession fixes the problem but willl replay the video from the exact point you tried playing it from a minute ago. It's embarrassing how long this issue has went on for when it's so easy to reproduce

Turns out it was the wifi card in our sky q box for us, it was burnt out but still functional... we had the same issue with our old sky routers twice before we switched providers. Not sure what sky use for their wifi hardware but its prone to fail based on my experience.
SOLUTION: I plugged the q box into a mains plug WIFI access point via ethernet and zero issues with my Youtube now. If anyone else can give this solution a try and give some feedback. 👍
