I am guessing the code is 99% common between Sky and other hardware platforms, so this would be far from impossible, plus by definition contributors to this forum are likely to use Sky predominantly. I can only comment on my experience which is that I have never seen the issue when looked for on the TV platforms I use (Samsung and LG), Amazon Fire Stick, PC or iPad / iPhone. Then again, 90% of my YT is watched on Sky and I get the problem 90% of the time when pausing.

I've been having a lot of problems with youtube in firebox on my computer.
It seems related to pausing and restarting too.
Would still be nice to get some kind of reply from sky though.
You mean a new reply or something? because they already added an "Answer" to this thread

I'm still having this issue and have been for around a year. I'm getting sick of it tbh.

Don't know what they've answered but they obviously don't give a **bleep** or they'd have fixed it after all this time.

I'm still getting this issue. I'm trying to to watch and follow a tutorial for a new job, which I have to pause a lot and it's peeing me off.

After 18 months I've given up on Sky, I've cancelled my service with them, and I now use my LG TV's own YouTube app, which works fine. It's sad that they haven't/won't fix this, considering thousands of people have complained about it.
if you have a smart TV, consider using their YouTube app to watch the tutorial, I know how frustrating it can be when you need to use pause button a lot for work purposes.
Best of luck...

I'm seriously thinking about cancelling sky, what with the YouTube problem and having to re-pair my mini box with the main box every single time I use it. It's becoming a joke.

I understand the frustration, I stopped using apps on Q a while ago, but the fault here appears to be squarely on Google according to the official response in post 2.
I appreciate Sky could and should be keeping the pressure on and hopefully they are as I can replicate this across all 3 1TB Q boxes I have access to, plus 2 minis.
With the proliferation of smart TVs and cheap yet very capable streaming devices, it is easy to workaround the issue. If that leads someone to re-evaluate why they are paying for Sky in the first place, then that is perfectly understandable and churn they will have to live with.
Hopefully they asked you why you wanted to leave @AntAntAnt and you pointed at this thread?

Hi all,
Quite relieved to find this thread as I have had this problem for months and believed I must be going mad.
It's starting to affect my viewing on other platforms as I'm getting anxious about pausing videos or tv shows because I'm so used to my YT messing up on tv!
For me, a pause triggers a buffering, then a sudden wild jump backwards a few seconds. It used to be that rewinding or fast forwarding a couple seconds stopped it from doing the jump but more recently that no longer works for me.
It's getting really depressing and honestly I'm considering other options to use to access apps now 😕

For me, the update mentioned in this thread has solved the YouTube issues.

Force update to the latest firmware seems to have fixed this for me too!
I'm still nervous to pause but fingers crossed it's all grand now.

And the pause/audio dropout/jump back 10 seconds issue has returned for me, so not fixed after all.

Thanks all, I forced the update a couple nights ago and got very excited as it seemed to be fixed.
But all that happens is there's now a longer gap once resuming until the buffer-stop-leap backwards happens 😕 it was previously about 5-10 seconds it's now 30, and the leap backwards is further than it was too.
Sad times!
