Re: You tube buffering

My Sky Q has been doing this for months and I've just thought to see if there was any talk of it online.

Exactly the same scenario. YouTube is absolutely fine on the Sky Q box until it is paused, then will skip and judder for a few seconds and buffer/stop. Once we skip back or forward it is fine again.

Been happening for months.

Every other app on Sky Q is fine. And YouTube is fine on other devices.

We don't pause enough to forgo the simplicity of using the mic on the remote to launch it, but it is irritating when it happens. It would be nice for a fix after all these months.

Re: You tube buffering

Identical issue. You tube works fIne using LG app, but sky q, aa soon as you pause a video will behave exactly as described above. I have 1 gig FTP connection and sky q is hardwired to the network.

Re: You tube buffering

I've had this issue for the past two weeks. Today, despite all the messages in this forum, Sky TV telephone support told me that they know of nobody else with this issue. Frustrating to have a Support Forum that Sky Support don't read. 😞

Re: You tube buffering

About sums it up for Sky. It seems they're happy to keep jacking there costs up year on year under the guise of increased services. They're like the TV equivalence of council tax albeit more optional. Pay more but get increasingly less service!

Re: You tube buffering

Does anyonwe know how to fix it?

I read somwhere doing a factory reset on the box works but not tried it yet as not sure of some of my app passwords

Re: You tube buffering

I've had this issue for a couple of months now where YouTube will suddenly freeze, start buffering, the sound goes out of sinc. I've tried every fix under the sun was on the phone to various sky customer support representatives  including a factory reset before they eventually sent me a new skyQ box but guess what the issue was still there with the new box. My Internet speed is very good and no issues on any other devices. Not sure where to go from here

Re: You tube buffering

I have also tried all options. The fact that this doesn't happen on any non-Sky instance of Youtube suggests to me that is is a fault in the link between Sky and Google.  I have come to think that is it a problem with the switchover to ads during the videos. I'd like to hear if people with ad-free Youtube have the same problem.

Re: You tube buffering

i've found that when you pause viewing YouTube then go back to it a whilst later and press play - approx 6 seconds later the audio goes quiet, at this point if you click the rewind button twice then press play it'll go back a a couple of seconds then plays normally with no buffering.

The buffering has only started in the last couple of months or so... very annoying

Re: You tube buffering

Thanks for your reply Hambo. In my case the buffering occurs while I am viewing, not when I put it on pause.  Strangely enough, unlike some others, I have no issue with the pause button it's just when I'm viewing!
