Why do i get charged for 3 types of HD?
Hi,
Was just looking at my billing for the April pay hike and its made me very curious as to why i have 3 seperate lines on my bill for HD?
1. Sky Sports HD - shoud be £6.00 but I have a discount to £2.00,
2. Sky HD - is £9.00,
3. Ultra HD - was discounted but now £4.00.
So i get that the Sports HD is an extra, ok can live with £2.00 and the Ultra HD at £4.00 is still ok but what the hell am I getting charged £9.00 to watch all the other channels in HD? I thought you couldnt even watch Standard Definition channels anymore?

@JoanneKat You can indeed still watch standard definition, sky hd allows you to watch the sky entertainment channels in HD

Hi @JoanneKat You can ignore the Sky Sports HD item. Unfortunately it is a left over from the days when you could get Sky Sports in SD. HD is now mandatory, but Sky have not updated their billing system to incorporate it into Sky Sports.

Thanks for the response but still not happy with that charge though as surely its only a matter of time until SD is not available?

@JoanneKat Standard definition will be around for a good few years yet , most probably until the end of the decade when satellite broadcasting is likely to end

hi @JoanneKat
Ultra HD is for any Ultra HD (aka 4K & UHD) content - either Live Sports in UHD or UHD downloads from Movies, entertainment or Sports
The charge is on top of HD and not as an alternative

Re: Why do i get charged for 3 types of HD?
I have just cancelled my Ultra HD saving £3 so will have no £3 increase from April. Unless you have movies, sport and download program in UHD is was a pointless extra I never used. Should have cancelled it ages ago by the look of it.

It also used to upgrade NetFlix tiers (I think it still may for legacy accounts).

As noted above, it's 'correct'.
If you don't pay for HD then you will get many channels in SD. (You need HD sub to upgrade to UHD - worth reviewing whether you actually need UHD).
Also as noted above Sky Sports has HD inclusive in the price, even if listed as a separate item on your bill, e.g. if Sports is offered at, say £30, per month then it will be itemised as something like £26+£4. (The HD part is there for legacy reasons and cannot be removed)
