Sadly, after 12 years with Sky I'm probably going to cancel my Sky Q at the end of my minimum term (Q-1TB with Signature and Sports + Ultimate, HD, UHD & multiroom). Good deals no longer seem available. I just can't justify the cost any longer and I'm fed up of the yearly "inflation" increases and having to spend hours talking to people just to avoid getting completely ripped off. I've tried calling already and they offered a pathetic reduction - a 11% instead of a 19% increase on what I pay currently, even on a 24 month contract, and that's before April price rises. The only remaining USP is the ablity to record live sport, which is very useful when you have kids, but not worth the premium. So - if my minimum contract ends on 18 March do I need to cancel 31 days before or at any point before then? Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Chaffinch1 either 31 days before or apparently you can give notice anytime so long as you explicitly state that you don't want the contract to expire before the minimum term expires

I wouldn't risk the latter personally. Too much risk of miscommunication.

Nor me but there has been one particular poster advocating it lately when I've intentionally left it out so included it this time

Glad you put good deals in quotes! Not sure Sky will ever offer such a thing again!

Thanks. Good point - I'm not usually this organised and have teneded to speak to them nearer the time.

@Chaffinch1 I left last year and gave notice before the 31 day period as it is a minimum of 31 days. I gave the exact date of my contract ending. I had no problems and recieved a confirmation e-mail with the correct date and all went through with no issues.

Sad but true. They do still offer something (through Sky Q) no one else does but the tech is old now and you're paying an extra £30-40 a month simply for the ability to record satellite-only channels. I ditched their broadband already in favour of (far cheaper) gigabit community fibre so I have less bargaining leverage than I use to.

Many thanks. I'll do that.
