What do I need in my flat for Sky Q to be installed?

Hello,

I'm getting Sky Q installed tomorrow and was told by the Sky Advisor to check with my housing association whether Sky Q can be installed, as if the engineer comes and cannot install I'll be charged £25. I don't live in a high rise, it's a row of houses with upstairs/downstairs flats. 2 flats in each house. I called my housing association and they told me to go back to Sky and ask them directly what needs to be done logistically in order to install Sky Q - So I'm struggling speaking to an advisor currently and need to know if anyone can help?

Thanks

Do the premises have a communal satellite dish or are you expecting a dish for your particular flat? What do other flats have that are Sky users? If it's not a separate dish do the property management allow an unlimited number of dishes to be fitted?

Logistically with a separate dish the engineer with fix a ladder to an outer wall (for safety), fix a dish to the outer wall, run a cable from the dish to the entry point into your flat, create a hole from the inside of the flat outwards and feed the cables through to where the box will be situated.

@EmilyRose222I have never heard of a can't install charge, the housing association probably does not know anyway as they probably contract a communal installation out.

However you do need to find out where the equipment is and get permission from the housing association for Sky to work on the equipment. Sky can't tell anyone what is needed it may just be a question of plugging the Q box in and it will work or they may have to add additional equipment or they can't install.

If there is no communal system and it needs an external dish then it is more a question of where the dish can be fixed and pointed towards the satellite, this needs the housing association permission.

Re: What do I need in my flat for Sky Q to be installed?

When I got my sky in over a year ago I had to apply for permission off the housing company and got a form to fill in and send back and then got sky installed and then housing inspector fix a check which he passed.
Come back to sky this week so no check needed but it depends on the landlord or housing company.
