Re: Waht SCR LNB for SKY Q?

The LNB i have is not that bad, just Incompatible with my SKY Q The same Brand has a big variety of LNB types, but to find the Right one seems not as easy.

Can i use an LNB from this or other brand with H/V and Legacy autput?   For the SKY Q when i use Two Cables for wthe Q.  / Yes/NO/ 😊

the 2 H/V feeds used by SKY Q must be wideband feeds - these use a different oscillator frequency to legacy 'Universal' Outputs as well as providing (as the name implies) a wideband signal rather than using a 22Khz tone to switch between  low & high narrower bands (BTW Universal ouputs change polorisation depending on supply voltage 13V/18V)

The points made by @Godfrey regarding the drop down rain cover and use of amalgamting tape are to ensure that you don't get premature failure due to water ingress etc.

Or a Similar with an extra Legacy output for my Standard Boxes.. I want just let loose my Old SKY+ HD and Use my SKY Q Because the Card is Paired with that.

@Maniatore2006

If I understood you correctly the card you are using, as far as SKY are concerned is for SKY HD and you have not formally switched to SKY Q with them and that the SKY Q box you are using is not, itself, registered for a  current SKy Q subscription

If this the case I must re-iterate my earlier comment that it is quite possible that your susbcription will not work.

Thus any changes you make may be fruitless.

That said, if you do switch to a Hybrid LNB with wideband outputs & legacy outputs, if you did forlmally switch to SKY Q with SKY this may be an option - but as SKY no longer supply Hybrid LNBs there is still a doubt.

Of course, I may have misunderstood.

@Maniatore2006  If the LNB in your last image had been setup with a test meter, for optimal quality, I would have expected the best transponder signal focus position for the mounting collar clamp on the LNB collar would have been far closer to the midpoint position, and certainly not positioning the LNB at the furthest distance away from the dish reflector surface that was possible.

Re: Waht SCR LNB for SKY Q?

Since now one week or so My Sky Contrakt is not longer fully  Working in my SKY+ Box "your sky viewing card needs to be paired"

And it not Worke longer with my SKY+ HD

But with my SKY Q. From: your sky viewing card needs to be paired, to this to Use this Service you need a Satellite signal.

So now there is no way back.

And Since then, my Card Receives a lot of EMMs "Seen and Saved with and Linux box" 6 a day.

So Sky is aware about this SKY Q (it is Logical because, when i Pair a Card with an SKY Q the send the Request to SKY, and SKY Paired it or not. In my Case YES)

I just want to have my SKY Sports back, That now only Works With this SKY Q..

All other, i do not care like VODs or so, i just want Watch TV.

And i need a Matching LNB. it is that Simple...  Third Party Wideband LNB YES or NO,

Re: Waht SCR LNB for SKY Q?

Believe me that is the best Position for the LNB, it works just Fine. Max Reception 98% Min 75%

@Maniatore2006 there is a big difference between messages generated by the boxes at various points and SKY Systems being properly set up for you to receive your subscription via a SKY Q box

Personally I think you are clutching at straws to get your service working which may have failed due to a SKY HD box failure and have come accross the fact that SKY will no longer let you pair with a replacement HD box.

As I have said, changing the LNB to one suitable with SKY Q does not guarantee your subscription will work without formally moving to SKY Q

Of course, you have an added problem that you wish to keep legacy boxes working (presumably in Freesat mode) and SKY no longer fit Hybrid LNBs (they would also  replace the dish on a change to SKY Q)

Re: Waht SCR LNB for SKY Q?

At moment i care just about the Technical Side all other is a thing between me and SKY.

I need at moment just an Signal to my SKY Q, and if that is oaky, i do not need longer my SKY+ or other box.
But to can use it wouldbe a Bonus, no must.

I am sorry if i am a little bit Rude.
Thank you for your Patience

The reason that I am attempting to guide you into optimising the Bit Error Rate (BER) quality of your received signal is because a Sky Q receiver requires a measured BER quality of at least 11 dB, whereas a Sky+HD receiver only requires a BER quality of around 7-8 dB for continuous error free reception.

I think I had gathered that you were just trying to technical side sorted & I believe that we have tried to provide you with all the information you have asked & may need.

I think part of the problem has been making sure we do understand the full situation of what you have & are trying to do and any limitations you may have.

I have only been trying to point out that sorting the technical aspect  could leave you frustrated   if you cannot get your subscription to work (& possibly spent money without the benefit)

Re: Waht SCR LNB for SKY Q?

I understand that. and i am thankful 😊  😘  this Sky Q is a Receiver i never had to deal with...

Even my Older Telly is more Flexable that this SKY Q, and i Would avoid it, when i not needed that to watsh SKY Sprts. 😊

At moment i can just Use my SKY Entertainment Channels.
With my Actual Config i Receive SKY just Fine. Even on Rainy days. Like today.

Again Thanks for your Patience

@Maniatore2006  When setting up your new Wideband LNB for a Sky Q receiver bear in mind that whilst your previous Sky+HD receiver was very good at displaying the achieved satellite default transponder signal quality, your Sky Q receiver is practically useless at displaying the achieved satellite default transponder signal quality.

If the displayed Sky Q signal quality is not reading 90 you are likely to have long term reception problems, and because a Sky Q receiver only displays reception information for just the default Tp4 satellite transponder, which is usually one of the higher quality channels, you could still encounter marginal reception quality on the weaker channels whilst a Sky Q receiver is displaying a signal quality reading of a steady 90 if the dish / LNB alignment is not fully optimised.

Thus, Sky Q reception is much more difficult to optimise without the aid of a professional test meter.

Sky+ / Sky Q Receiver Signal Quality with respect to measured MER quality

Sky+ Tp4 Signal Quality        Sky Q v3         Modulation Error Ratio

                90                                    90                            15 dB or over

                80                                    90                            13.5 dB

                70                                    90                            12.5 dB

                60                                    90                            11.5 dB

                50                                    80                            10.9 dB

                40                                    70                             8.7 dB

                30                                    60                             7.9 dB

                20                                      0                              6.3 dB

A typical Sky+ receiver requires the transponder signal MER quality to be at least around 8 dB for long term stability.

A typical Sky Q receiver requires the transponder signal MER quality to be at least 11 dB for long term stability.
