Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
Hi
I have tried all the things mentioned in the thread but still UHD movies are taking hours to download. Broadband speed test says I have 53mb download. We are regularly sitting down as a family to watch UHD (which I pay extra for) and have to abandon and watch HD or stream via Paramount plus for example. Any help would be greatly appreciated- thanks

Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
I too reached out for help with this but as yet sky have been next to useless. My best result was to connect a cable direct to the router which shortend the time it took to make the film viewable. Sorry can't be of any more help.

Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
Thanks for replying. I managed to speak to someone at sky who was clear the issue is broadband. Downloading more inpactful than streaming apparently. I'm in the market for faster broadband it seems!

Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
If you have a smart tv go to Netflix help/check network speed
then do the same on your sky box
if both are on the same wifi you can compare the speeds with and without the sky box. Mine was double on the tv ??

Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
Thanks for the tip. Was 17mbps on tv and 13.5 via Sky box. So definitely an impact. If I can find someone local to me with fibre bb and Sky I will ask them to do the same and download UHD if they have Sky. I'll post any update if I get anywhere with that

They are wrong/misled. We went from terrible speeds to amazingly fast speeds by changing the Q connection from wifi to ethernet into a wifi mesh node (so the Q doesn't know it's using wifi)
my suspicion is that the Q internal network sometimes decides to use a mini as its uplink to the internet which causes havoc with transfer speeds but I'm speculating.

Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
That's interesting - how did you do that if you don't mind me asking?

Bt wifi mesh. One disc close to the sky box. Short ethernet cable into it via a small ethernet switch.
Both minis attached to powerline ethernet adapters with a 3rd adapter near the Q and connected to the switch mentioned above.
wifi off on all Sky boxes.
You say you get 13 and 17Mb on the box and TV. Neither of those are quick enough for UHD. What do you get at the router itself?

Re: Very slow download of uhd film on sky Q
Thank you.
I get 53 mb at router
I saw your other comment about WiFi disabled. Not sure where the setting is for that and if I do so will it render the mini box network redundant - I.e. will I need to connect all those via cables before disabling WiFi on the main q box?

Hover over "Settings" and hit
001 Select
It's in that hidden menu
Yes you'll need to connect the minis a different way.
The problem is the Q's networking doesn't prioritise ethernet over wifi, unlike just about every other device ever made.
