I've seen quite a few saying search for non-BSL recordings … as yet I've failed to find them.

FYI … I'd like subtitles for some Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿actors / programs 😂

@SteveG8 not sure you can search for non-BSL downloads but thebsynopsis should have SL stated if the download contains BSL although I found a few BBC  downloads that both the signed version and the non signed version both states SL in the synopsis

@pra29  the classic blame game because bbc doesn't want to take responsibility for their errors and blame sky

as advised it's BBC at fault not sky as it's common knowledge amongst regulars on here as to what the correct process is and who is giving correct information

in this case the bbc aren't correct it what they are telling you I'm afraid

@pra29 no I didn't miss the post I was merely stating how the series link works in that the broadcaster is responsible for the links not Sky.

It may well be possible that who you spoke to at the BBC didn't know that or as @SKY1992bf says they are just passing the blame.

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

I posted the screen grab but don't know how to add text, anyway it seems if I want to record it without "signing" there's no choice ?

hi @rtb

The image you posted does not imply it contains Signing - the icon for Signed programmed is 'SL'

BTW The 'S' means Subtitled. & 'AD' Audio Description (both of which can be toggled on or off)

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

I can say with certainty that not all sign programmes are denoted by SL.  This is one of the ways that SKY sets out to annoy us.

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

Thank you, so when people say choose the programme without "signing" and there's not "SL" in the description yet when I play the recording it is signed ... oh well, yet another of life's frustrations, crazy really. It would seem obvious to have a box in settings where those sight problems could swith on SL but leave it off for the majority !

@rtb  The signed part is recorded on to the prgramme so cannot just be switched off. If the synopsis is not saying it's signed then thats a problem with the TV channel/broadcaster and is not down to Sky each broadcaster is responsible for updating the information shown in synopsis.

You could let Sky viewer relations know they can be contacted at viewerR@sky.uk

Erm, I don't think it's for people with eyesight problems.

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

Have now checked "Settings" > "Acceessibility" > "Highlight Programmes" and Checked ✓  "Subtitles" & "Sign Language"

It's now so much easier to choose programmes for both. Choosing "Favourites" especially HD which appear to have fewer SL on.

I have to have "S" on as the quality of sound isnt always too clear for me . . . . . . could still do with having SL sizes as some Apps have and definately a S translater from Scottish to English for us sassenaches 😁

I have a French colleague who really struggles with Scottish accents, it's hilarious. I find them pretty easy to follow luckily, so act as his interpreter though I've never lived there. Probably comes from my love of "Absolutely".

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

@Laing1  I think your missing the point most if not all these programs exist without SL in the first place aswell as a signed option but the only dlc available or that downloads is the signed option.
