Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

It's frustrating that I'm paying so much extra for SKY, but not given the opportunity to have BSL signing on or off, as I can with Subtitles.
As I can remember it's the last 2 years or so, where programmes have had signing added.

BSL for a programme is part of the video itself and is not just a text feed that can be overlayed by a toggle like subtitles

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

It would be a good use for AI where u could choose whether u want bsl or not like subtitles, and AI could then do the BSL over the top of any programme. Maybe an idea for someone in IT.

Tbh I don't think if I went deaf it would change this post I'd still prefer the option to turn signing on/off at will and not have the opposite one forced upon me.

@thequeenschees but its not forced on you you need to download the one that doesnt state SL in the synopsis or record the ones that don't have sign Language if all the downloads show SL then you best to contact viewer relations at viewerR@sky.uk as it would appear then that BBC or ITV have only supplied Sky with signed versions

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

It is the one that doesn't have sign often isn't there especially using the sky box search options there's a flaw in the systems fetch/retrieve somewhere as it clearly doesn't work as described.

@thequeenschees as i said normally its either BBC or ITV that use the signed programmes and Sky only have what these companies supply them in their catchup section for download so if you really want to complain the complain to either of these companies Sky can only make available what they are given

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

I think you have missed the point. One can set to record a series,  non-signed,  but after serveral weeks the recordings are all signed. So they ARE forced upon us. BBC supplies both versions to SKY, it's SKY that is messing up.

Looks like the series link metadata is messed up - but AIUI that's the BBC.  Try emailing Sky viewer relations...

Re: Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

I've seen quite a few saying search for non-BSL recordings … as yet I've failed to find them.

FYI … I'd like subtitles for some Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿actors / programs 😂

@pra29 as @PandJ2020 states the BBC are responsible for  supplying the linking  meta data for recordings as are all other broadcasters so ITV are responsible for theirs Sky for theirs etc

@SteveG8 not sure you can search for non-BSL downloads but thebsynopsis should have SL stated if the download contains BSL although I found a few BBC  downloads that both the signed version and the non signed version both states SL in the synopsis

@pra29  the classic blame game because bbc doesn't want to take responsibility for their errors and blame sky

as advised it's BBC at fault not sky as it's common knowledge amongst regulars on here as to what the correct process is and who is giving correct information

in this case the bbc aren't correct it what they are telling you I'm afraid

@pra29 no I didn't miss the post I was merely stating how the series link works in that the broadcaster is responsible for the links not Sky.

It may well be possible that who you spoke to at the BBC didn't know that or as @SKY1992bf says they are just passing the blame.
