Unwanted sign language in recordings downloaded

Hi,

 

I am getting really frustrated because the programmes I want to watch (like Nadiya Bakes, Gardener's World, Stanley Tucci's Italy) are all contacting a signer who takes up a significant portion of the screen and is very distracting when you don't need it. I have sourced these programmes by speaking into the record button on the remote and then downloading, or just playing what is available. I have gone into settings and switched off the find signed programmes. Please help Sky or someone!

There's always a non-BSL version somewhere in the schedule (typically in a much more prominent timeslot), but if you've inadvertently set a recurring Recording or Series Link to the BSL version then that's what you'll get until you remove that marker and set a different one.

There's always a non-BSL version somewhere in the schedule (typically in a much more prominent timeslot), but if you've inadvertently set a recurring Recording or Series Link to the BSL version then that's what you'll get until you remove that marker and set a different one.

Responding to Timmy's reply. I found the programmes by speaking into the remote and then it automatically found me the signed versions with no other options. It shouldn't default to this. It seems silly that I have to search manually through the tv guide to find when the programme is on to then manually choose to record it.

My guess would be that reflects the limitations of Voice Search rather than the availability of non-BSL content.

Unfortunately if you're downloading on Catch Up frequently and especially with BBC programmes you are not given a choice of SL or not.

Also you cannot trawl through past schedules as Sky schedules only show you future programmes. Deeply annoying.

I agree it is really annoying and it impossible to find a option which is  without BSL.  Having to use BBC iPlayer rather than sky.

This is exactly why the BBC have started doing this, they only allow the signing versions on Sky now. Thereby forcing you to use I player so they can better utilise their own metrics etc...

Is so frustrating because having to switch to, and use I player is cumbersome compared to moving around using sky q system. 😡

For example if I do a voice search today for Hotel Megabuild and we assume as I'm doing a voice search that I don't need the BSL, only a minority do. Eposode 1 has no BSL, Eposode 2 has BSL, Episode 3 has no BSL. Could someone have a look at this. Maybe the ideal is for any search to return both options but the current is a mess.

It's ridiculous 202e ans SL doesn't just simply 1 have its own cats gory on catchup, ans 2 why isn't it just a red button feature that can be turned on/off as desired?.

Just download the non-signed version. Simple. As already explained, the individual doing the 'signing' is part of the picture, not overlaid and therefore can't be filtered out.

Thanks Baldrick, Unfortunately and maybe we haven't all explained this clearly enough; the BBC supply programs with and without BSL. As you say, this is built in to a broadcast item, or not. Unfortunately this is only a theory, often the BBC only supply with BSL or only supply without or sometimes a series is supplied to Sky as a mix, some with and some without. For example, search Hotel Megabuild, three episodes, the first is without BSL, episodes 2 and 3 are with BSL.
