Sky last weekend showed the formula 1 race live on two different channels. Both were broadcast in UHD. I recorded one of them and then tried watching the recording via the sky Q mini box. I received a message to say the recording was not compatible with this box.
This then caused problems in my household as I had to disrupt the family to watch it on the main sky Q box. This is going to be a problem throughout the season.
I do not understand why Sky broadcasts both channels in UHD if that format is not compatible with the appliances they provide and we pay for. Or have I missed a setting somewhere in my mini box?
thanks

Nope: Mini boxes do not have the video chipset or HDMI standard required for UHD output, and a main Q box can neither rebroadcast UHD or downscale it to HD for Mini box use.

You'd need to record the HD version to watch on the mini box, I think it's channel 857.

Ok thanks everyone for the answers. I will have to look harder for the channel showing it in HD.
I could only see it on two channels and both were in UHD

HD version should be on 857 now that 406 is a dedicated UHD channel
BTW as @TimmyBGood says I record in both formats in case I want to catch up on my mini (although Idon;t do hat very often)

Or set F1 to record via the mini box where F1 HD remains at 406.
