Unable to view live content in UHD as per the red button prompt

Tonight I have been unable to view any of the Carabao Cup match in UHD - this despite the prompt offering me to do so by pressing the red button. If I do this all I get dark blue buffering screen which then goes a lighter blue.

I know there's nothing wrong with my settings: the picture resolution is correctly set on the Sky Q box and hasn't been altered since yesterday's evening of the Leeds match.

I understand the concept behind Sky UHD content, I think. From what I understand ability to stream live content is dependent upon capacity of two or more UHD streams, and if those are being used for other programmes then it is unlikely that additional content can be viewed live in UHD.

As I don't have the full Sky Sports package I accept my viewing is limited to two premium channels for football and so cannot expect all content to be available in UHD, however I do know that several 'flagship' channels such as Main Event and Arena will occasionally simulcast content - which accounts for being able to view some, but not all, matches in UHD.

I have not been a subscriber with Sky long and would appreciate any advice with the UHD issue. If anyone could elaborate on Sky's adoption of UHD technology that would also be extremely helpful. As a long-term BT Sport subscriber I am used to the concept of a dedicated UHD channel but I have to say that Sky's seemingly hit-and-miss approach to UHD has rather thrown me. Sometimes all it requires is a press of the OK button, other times as in tonight it needs the user to press the red button and follow the prompts.

Many thanks
