Unable to record or watch on demand or catch to my tv .

I just upgraded to sky Q today from sky plus .I finding my way around the new interface .I have been able to plan and record a programe .However I cannot record or watch anything on demand or catch up ,which is very frustrating .As an aside there seems no way I can make an " advanced search " for a particular programe ,is there a short cut for this ,or do I have to make a tedious trawl every time ?

What specific problem(s) are you getting with downloads 

I am not aware of an advanced seach  - although it is not prefect Voice search is the easiest.

If you are new to SKY Q, may I suggest  you look at the various advice & videos under the Help section at the bottom of the main menu

BTW I strongly recommend you set your most used channels as Favourites

@Gordon1947 Sky signature comes with live TV, catchup and boxsets.in SD as standard you may be trying to download the programme in HD

The default download setting is HD so try changing the format to download in SD

you can change the default to SD by Pressing Home on your Sky Q remote and select Settings, then Setup.
Select Preferences, then 'On Demand default download format', and choose SD.

I am having the same problem.  Even though I have the channels with my subscription I cannot record or watch on catch up or demand.   It gives the format as HD or SD and my setting is SD but everytime I am told I need to upgrade to watch.   Does anyone know why?  Absolutely ridiculous that you cannot catch up on programmes that are on the channels you are paying for.
