Unable to get new SKY Q box to work.

Just had a new Sky Q box to replace an old one which had 'died'

All good with replacing cables....followed the instructions and reached the 'Accesibility on Sky Q'....see pic  below ....then unable to get any further. No response on using the Sky remote to get into settings as suggested. Tried a fresh set of batteries....no change....saw one brief flash of red light from the remote.

Then  tried to access the Sky box from the MySky app.   'No box' recognised  Only one wifi system available here.

Has anyone any idea what is happening (what I am doing wrong)?

Sky have suggested the following...

  • Unpair their Sky Q remote from the box by holding 4&6
  • Wait for the remote to flash
  • Then dismiss the information screen "Skip & set up later"
  • Hold 1&3 to repair the remote control

If 4&6 does not allow you to clear the information screen, try holding 7&9 to reset the Sky Q remote then hold 1&3 and follow the on-screen setup journey to allow the remote to control the TV.

With a “no satellite signal” message, check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely either;
▫️a dish misalignment,
▫️possibly a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish),
▫️water getting into the cabling
so check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company or landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact direct.

It’s worth mentioning that:

🔹 a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels (amongst the first to be affected may be TNT or GB News),

🔹 wind and rain can affect the satellite signal and following adverse weather wait times for an engineer will probably be significantly longer.

🔹a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

@BreconnoSky  Carefully examine the condition of the coaxial cable connectors.

Re: Unable to get new SKY Q box to work.

Thank you again...

Have tried just about everything. Spent almost an hour on the line to very helpful Sky engineer .....

It seems that there is no connection with the satellite......having checked every accessible connection, it looks like there may have been cable damage during a recent violent storm  An engineer is coming out.

Many thanks again for your help
