 unfortunately my only relative is my 100 year old Mother! 😂 and all my neighbours are pensioners as well so not a chance but thank you for the thought! When I get a chance I will pop into a local store and see if they can help (I care for my Mum 24/7 so don't get much chance to get out for long)

Seems like you need Sky Signature for accessing the on-demand stuff. On offer at the moment at £26 a month. Normal price 31. Quite a jump from Essentials.

 

For the "free" solution, I imagine that the app installation is very dependent on which Bravia you have. That brand has been around quite a while and early ones probably can't even use apps.

 

Another option would be to get an amazon firestick. One-off payment and the apps are mostly pre-installed. Plugs into a HDMI socket on your TV a bit like a USB stick.
