UHD on BBC iPlayer not working on SKY Q Box.

Which box do you have ?

Home - Settings - System Info - Hardware Version

If it is 32B0xxx then you have a (V1) UHD but non HDR 2TB Box  - iPlayer not available in UHD

If it is 32B1xxx then you have a (V2) UHD HDR 2TB Box (which has a separate Power supply) - iPlayer not available in UHD

If it is 32B2xxx then you have a (V3) UHD HDR 1TB or 2TB Box - iPlayer available in UHD

Hi @Graeme100   What is the hardware version? Home -> Settings -> System info -> Hardware version. Is iPlayer Beta ON? In iPlayer, Settings -> iPlayer Beta -> ON

BETA hasn't needed to be on since 2020 to access UHD, it's available by default.

Only the third generation of Sky Q boxes support iPlayer in UHD.

BBC iPlayer is on Beta Mode and Version is 35.33.0.0

I can get UHD on the  iPlayer App on my TV but not on the App on my SKY Q Box

@Graeme100 have you checked that your boxes resolution settings are still set to 2160 and 10 bit

Box is set on  2160 and 8 Bit.  Settings should fine as I am just watching Formula 1 in UHD!

In which case probably worth doing a power down restart

Use the remote to place it into standby mode
Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)
Wait at least 30s
Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

Why 8bit and not 10bit? F1 is in HDR and you're missing a lot in SDR imho.

My TV only supports 8 bit but that is still in HDR but just not as good as 10.bit

Not sure how that can work. HDR signals are always 10 bit (or more). You need the extra data to represent the wider range of colours/brightness. I'm very curious. May I ask which model TV it is?

Its a Panasonic 4K 72" TV  Model 4KTV-JUP

I can't find any info about 8 or 10 bit selection on the TV

When I set up my  SKY Box it only works in 8 bit with this TV

I can watch BBC IPlayer in UHD on the app on the TV but not on the app on my SKY Q Box

If your panasonic is anything like mine try setting the HDMI  Auto Setting (might be called something slightly different) to Mode 2 &  then try setting 10 bit on the SKY box again

As @Chodley says you need 10 bit for HDR (but not for  UHD in SDR) - this is probaly why you can't get UHD on iPlayer on SKY Q

BTW We generally suggest using the TVs inbuilt apps anyway
