Re: UHD HLG HDR Picture is So Poor

I experienced the same issue. Picture was so dull when I was watching the cricket in UHD 10 bit.  Less dull in 8 bit but the HD channel was far better.

Also noticed the colour brightness seemed to drop during the football on UHD.

Sky sent me a version 3 box but the problems persist.

Did anyone manging to resolve the issue?

Hi @Ninsk   What is the make and model of your TV? Also are you using the Sky Q supplied HDMI lead?

That's not the same issue, I don't think.

Have you calibrated your television whilst it is displaying a 10 bit UHD HDR image.

For information this is an extract from the RTings review of this model.

Or the trick is too use standard picture mode..

The issue remains on standard mode.

So it's probably the ABL protecting the screen in very bright sunny cricket coverage? It might be that the UHD version is just as bright as HD even then, but the way HLG works causes it to lose apparent contrast vs HD when the ABL kicks in.

Re: UHD HLG HDR Picture is So Poor

Thanks for your reply. You might be right.

I've done some more research and the issues I'm experiencing seem to be related to ABL (auto brightness limiter)  and ABSL (auto static brightness limiter).
