U App on Sky Q Jumping to Different Episode after Ads

I am watching Brokenwood on Sky Q U app. It goes to ads part way through episode and then when it goes back to the series after ads it goes to another episode. I then go back to the episode I was on and it plays for about a minute or so, then goes into ads again, which it seems to jump part way through one ad and jumps to another. If I am lucky it starts back at the episode I was in or it jumps to next episode.

 

I have unplugged power to Sky Q and and left it a minute. It has made no difference.

 

I have fibre to the property and have speeds of 900mb plus and my Sky Q is wired by ethenet cable. There is no issues with my speed or my connection, and I am not doing anything else with my network.

That is annoying.

 

While I can help flag this to Sky, you are (I think), the first person to report this.

 

I would recommend telling UKTV directly that you are having issues on Sky Q, as the app has only recently been added, it is most likely a bug that they need to squish.

I have just done that. I did a Google search and it came up I should power of SkyQ and reboot it which I did. I couldn't find anybody else with issue either.

Let us know if you get a response.

 

As you have worked out, the only tools really available with an app issue on Q are:

 

  1. Power cycle
  2. App refresh
  3. Report to Sky/app provider

I remember I had a similar issue with ITVX doing strange things too back in June. I gave up with that one and just used the apps on my TV which worked fine compared to apps on my SkyQ box.

Fair enough.

 

I don't know what TV package you have, I have Sky Ultimate TV and doing a voice search for "Brokenwood" returns 11 series I can watch on demand without touching the app.

I have same package as you. I have never used voice search mind you. I just saw in the press the there was a new app on SkyQ and went to investigate. I saw Brikenwood was on there and knew I was a couple of seasons behind so decided to watch...wish I hadn't bothered with all the agro. Thankfully my Smart TV has the app and it works fine.

Well that was a complete and absolute waste if time contacting U TV. They issue a default email and having actually read mine in any way shape or form. This is exactly what ITVX did.

 

Here is the waste of time email I got back from UTV

The same is happening to me. Watching on TV via SKY Q. It's very annoying for it to constantly switch/skip episodes every time the adverts start.

I've just watched Boston Strangler on C4 app via Sky Q box and every time an ad break finishes the film returns to the beginning! Very annoying

I have flagged this issue with Sky, but I cannot stress enough the need to raise it with UKTV who supply the Q app, directly.

 

If they respond, then please take the next step and explain the issue you are experiencing, because I am not seeing any problems when using it on my box.

Different app, even if it is the same problem.

 

I can't test that one at all as I pay the £39.99 for premium (Channel 4+), so don't have any ads.
